3G Development-01

After lots of hard work, perseverance and an ambitious but outcome driven Football Development Plan work has now begun on the construction of a brand new state of the art FIFA 1 Star 3G Football Development here at Astley Sports Village.

With a completion date Easter 2018 we are incredibly excited to be able to re-invest into our current and loyal community club bookings who have stuck by us over the years this development has taken to get to this stage. We now  also look to attract more community football clubs, groups and engagement schemes to enhance Football provision, increase participation of junior boys and girls, increase open age participation from both recreational to competitive level, improve player performance with the specific surface of a 3G along with introduce new schemes here such as Walking Football for over 50’s, Girls Football Teams, Disability Provision and lots more!

A steering group is to be set up in the New Year which will include representatives from key partner community clubs, Premier League Pro Club Link, Cheshire FA and other key representatives to quality assure we are meeting our Football Development Plan, to ensure Income & Expenditure is audited, objectives we are striving for are being set to task, there is the agreed sinking fund each year being met and the surplus the 3G generates is being re-invested back into Football and the local community which is key for the long term success and sustainability of both the business and community football growth we are striving for!

Booking expression of interest from new community clubs, groups and schemes can now be made by contacting Mark Storie, Director of Astley Sports Village on m.storie@astley.tameside.sch.uk or by T: 07872 923 730

Junior Hockey Returns To Astley Sports Village!

Following a very successful Primary School Hockey Tournament in November 2017, we as a facility along with key partners Tameside School Sports Partnership, City of Manchester HC & England Hockey wanted to bring a weekly junior session that is accessible and affordable for local boys & girls!

Hockey participation in Tameside reduced significantly in years gone by and our aim is to get local children back playing hockey from beginners to those more experienced.

We have a superb team of coaches from our key partner club City Of Manchester here every Sunday at 10:00am who will teach the children new skills and develop their skills each week whilst making the sessions fun for all the children who attend.

Since the session launched in January 2018 we have seen a regular 20+ attend this session with a mix of both boys & girls of a wide range of abilities all attending each week!

Sessions are only £2 per child and we provide all the equipment for your children. The session is open to all boys & girls in school years 3,4,5&6 and we hope to see lots more children coming along over the coming weeks.
